Hands & Tales

“The Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Program for the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services provides support and resources to families who have children ages birth-3 diagnosed with a hearing loss. As a part of ongoing efforts to provide language access and opportunities for families, we are starting to pilot a program called EHDI Hands & Tales where we travel around to different locations in the state to offer a story time for families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing. A Deaf Mentor will read a story and an interpreter voices the story with some interaction time for the parents. This is a free event for families, there is no cost involved.”
