Safety City Urbandale
Safety City is a community project put on by UPD for children going into kindergarten to put forth hands on safety education. This is a free program to learn about 911, water safety, fire safety, pedestrian safety, poison safety, bike safety, and more!
Space is limited and sign up is required. To enroll, register at https://urbandale.activityreg.com/ClientPage_t2.wcs, and is due by May 27th. The summer sessions are from June 12th-16th at 9-11:30am, June 19th-23rd at 9-11:30am both at Urbandale High School, and June 26th-30th at 9-11:30am at Webster Elementary.

Check out the safe summer kickoff on Saturday, May 13th from 11am-1pm at the Grubb YMCA (1611 11th Street, Des Moines) for free fun and food. The first 100 kids 10 and under can get free bikes!
DMPD Pal’s are hosting DMPD Bike Camp this June from the 19th-23rd from 8am-4pm where each day will begin and end at Pioneer Columbus Community Center (2100 SE 5th Street, Des Moines). Ages for this camp are from 11-15 and the cost is FREE. Pre-registration is required to be completed through Deb VanVelzen at 515-237-1391 or dmpdyouth@dmgov.org.
Requirements for camp are: have a bike with gears, have bike riding skills, wear proper athletic attire (no sandals), transportation to/from camp, good physical health and positive behaviors.
